The London Tourism Guide

London, the capital city of England and the United Kingdom situated on the River Thames is having the largest metropolitan area and largest urban zone in the European Union. It’s a world leading financial centre with the fifth largest metropolitan area GDP in the world.
London is the world’s leading tourism destination with an array of famous tourist attractions like London Eye, Tower of London, British Museum, National Gallery and Madame Tussauds.
Let’s have quick look on some of the most-visited attractions of London one by one.

British Museum
The British Museum founded in 1953 beautifully holds two million years of human history treasuring old objects and their cultures under one roof. It’s unique in itself as it housed both a national museum of antiquities and the national library in the same huge building. Every year 5.8 million people visit this great museum to see its Rosetta Stone, Parthenon Sculptures and Egyptian Mummies.

National Gallery

The National Gallery built in 1824 is an art museum that houses a collection of 2,300 Western European paintings from the mid 13th Century to 1900. A number of people comes from every corner of the world to see great works of Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Rembrandt, Gainsborough, Turner, Renoir, Cezanne and Van Gogh. Inside the Gallery there’s also some special exhibitions, lectures, audio-video programmes, guided tours with holiday events for children and adults.

London Eye

The London Eye, a giant Ferris wheel situated on the banks of River Thames is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom. It’s the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe with 135 metres (443ft) height and 120 metres (394ft) diameter. Every year 3.5 million people ride this wheel to see the great London’s beauty from the sky.

Tower of London

The Tower of London also known as Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress is a historic castle situated on the northern bank of River Thames of England. Inside the tower there are dozens of amazing sites and activities to do. The White Tower, one of the most important historic buildings in the world is founded at the Tower of London. Other royal things to see in the tower include Royal Beast, Prisoners Exhibition, Medieval Palace, Fit for a King Crown Jewels and much more.

Madame Tussauds

The MadameTussauds a wax museum in London founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussauds is a major tourist attraction in London, displaying over 300 waxworks of historical and royal figures, sports star and film stars. It incorporates the London Planetarium in its west wing and also expanded with branches in Amsterdam, Bangkok, Berlin, Hollywood, Dubai, Blackpool, Hong Kong, Jakarta, New York City, Las Vegas, Sydney and Washington D.C.
